Day by day
- Day 1 — Kathgodam / Haldwani — Kainchi Dham — Jageshwar — Pithoragarh
The journey begins early from Kathgodam or Haldwani, where the group meets the tour representative and boards the assigned mountain vehicle. A short introductory briefing covers the route, luggage limits, Inner Line Permit requirements, weather conditions and basic high-altitude precautions. Drive into the Kumaon Himalayas and stop first at Kainchi Dham, the peaceful Neem Karoli Baba Ashram surrounded by forested hills. Spend time at the temple complex for darshan and prayer before continuing towards the Golu Devta Temple, dedicated to Kumaon's revered deity of justice. The temple is known for its bells and written petitions offered by devotees. Continue to Jageshwar Dham, an ancient cluster of stone temples dedicated mainly to Lord Shiva. Set amid tall deodar trees, the complex offers a calm spiritual beginning to the pilgrimage. Visit the principal shrines according to available time and temple operating hours. After completing the visits, proceed through mountain valleys and small settlements towards Pithoragarh, often called 'Mini Kashmir' for its scenic setting. Check in at the hotel, have dinner and rest. Guests should hydrate properly and sleep early before entering the remote border sector on the following day.
Overnight: Pithoragarh
- Day 2 — Pithoragarh — Dharchula — Permit Formalities — Nabi / Gunji
After an early breakfast, check out and drive towards Dharchula, the border town situated beside the Kali River and adjoining Nepal. The route passes through terraced farms, deep river valleys and mountain settlements. On reaching Dharchula, halt for Inner Line Permit collection and verification. Keep original identity documents, permit copies and required photographs ready. The support team assists with the formalities, but final permission remains subject to approval by the competent authorities. Luggage may be reorganised here because only limited baggage can be carried in the local jeeps and remote homestays. Transfer to authorised mountain jeeps and continue uphill towards Nabi or Gunji. The restricted route passes through rugged cliffs, streams, waterfalls and traditional villages such as Chialekh, Garbyang and Nepalchu. Permit checks and temporary road stoppages may occur along the way. Arrive at Nabi or Gunji by evening and check in at the assigned guesthouse or homestay. Accommodation is basic and generally on sharing basis. Enjoy a warm vegetarian dinner and attend the guide's briefing for the Adi Kailash excursion. Avoid unnecessary exertion, drink sufficient fluids and report headache, nausea, dizziness or breathing difficulty immediately.
Overnight: Nabi / Gunji
- Day 3 — Nabi / Gunji — Jyolingkong — Parvati Sarovar — Adi Kailash Darshan
Wake up early and prepare for the principal Adi Kailash darshan day. Carry only a small day pack with water, dry fruits, energy bars, personal medicines, rain protection, warm layers and identity documents. After breakfast, travel by local jeep towards Jyolingkong, situated at approximately 4,762 metres. The route crosses high Himalayan terrain with glacial streams, alpine landscapes and snow-covered mountain views. Depending on visibility, travellers may see landmarks identified locally as Kunti Parvat, Pandav Fort and Parvati Mukut. Vehicle operation remains subject to track condition and instructions from the local administration. From the permitted vehicle point, begin the approximately 3-4 kilometre trek towards Parvati Sarovar, also known as Gauri Kund, and the Adi Kailash Temple area. The distance is moderate, but the altitude, cold wind and uneven ground make it physically demanding. Walk slowly, remain with the group and follow the mountain guide's pace. Spend time at Parvati Sarovar for prayer and quiet reflection. A holy dip should only be attempted when permitted and physically safe. Continue to the Adi Kailash Temple area and receive darshan of Mount Adi Kailash, subject to weather and visibility. Nearby points may include Bheem Ki Kheti and other locally identified sacred formations. Begin the return trek within the time directed by the guide and travel back by jeep to Gunji or Nabi. Enjoy a hot dinner and rest. Persistent altitude symptoms must be reported immediately, and any medical or descent instruction issued by the operating team must be followed.
Overnight: Gunji / Nabi
- Day 4 — Om Parvat Excursion — Nabhidhang — Kalapani — Return to Nabi / Gunji
After an early breakfast, depart by authorised local jeep for the Om Parvat excursion. The mountain is revered for a natural snow pattern that may resemble the sacred symbol 'ॐ'. Clear viewing is entirely dependent on snowfall, cloud cover and weather, and the departure time may be adjusted to improve the chances of darshan. Proceed towards Nabhidhang and spend time in prayer and quiet reflection at the designated viewpoint. Continue towards Kalapani, where the sacred Kali Temple is situated in the upper valley. Visit Vyas Gufa, traditionally associated with Maharishi Ved Vyas, and learn about the area's importance on the historic Kailash Mansarovar route. The excursion involves rough mountain tracks, permit checks and rapidly changing weather. The guide may shorten or rearrange the visits if visibility deteriorates or road conditions become unsafe. After completing the sacred visits, return to Gunji or Nabi for the second overnight stay in the restricted sector. Have dinner, rest and prepare luggage for the long descent to Chaukori the next morning.
Overnight: Gunji / Nabi
- Day 5 — Nabi / Gunji — Dharchula — Chaukori
After breakfast, check out from the homestay and begin the descent from Nabi or Gunji towards Dharchula. Travel through the same dramatic border valleys, passing remote villages, streams and cliff-side roads. Permit checks and temporary road closures may affect the schedule. On reaching Dharchula, transfer from the local mountain jeep to the main tourist vehicle. Continue towards Chaukori through the Kumaon hills. The landscape gradually changes from rugged high-altitude terrain to forested slopes, agricultural villages and tea-growing areas. Arrive in Chaukori by evening and check in at the hotel or resort. Chaukori is known for its peaceful atmosphere, tea gardens and wide Himalayan views. Subject to arrival time and weather, enjoy the sunset over the snow peaks or take a short walk near the property. Dinner and overnight stay are arranged in Chaukori. This quieter halt provides an opportunity to recover after the demanding restricted-sector journey.
Overnight: Chaukori
- Day 6 — Chaukori — Patal Bhubaneswar — Nainital / Bhimtal
After breakfast, check out and drive towards Nainital or Bhimtal. En route, visit Patal Bhubaneswar, the mystical underground limestone cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The cave is reached by descending a narrow stepped passage with support chains. Inside are naturally formed rock structures associated in local tradition with Hindu deities and mythological episodes. Follow the temple guide's instructions carefully and avoid carrying large bags. The cave visit may not be suitable for travellers with serious mobility difficulties, respiratory concerns or claustrophobia. After darshan, continue through the Kumaon hills towards Nainital or Bhimtal. The drive passes forested ridges, hill towns and lake-country scenery. On arrival by evening, check in at the hotel. Subject to daylight and the selected stay location, spend some time near Bhimtal Lake or Naini Lake. Dinner and overnight stay are arranged in Nainital or Bhimtal.
Overnight: Nainital / Bhimtal
- Day 7 — Nainital / Bhimtal Sightseeing — Kathgodam Departure
After breakfast, enjoy a short sightseeing programme according to the selected hotel location and departure schedule. In Nainital, possible visits include Naini Lake, Mall Road and nearby viewpoints. When staying in Bhimtal, spend time around Bhimtal Lake and the local promenade before departure. Boating, ropeway rides and other optional activities are payable directly and remain subject to weather, operating hours and available time. Return to the hotel, check out and begin the drive to Kathgodam. On arrival, transfer to Kathgodam Railway Station or the confirmed departure point. Guests should keep a reasonable buffer before the scheduled train because hill traffic and weather may cause delays. The Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra concludes with divine blessings and memories of the Kumaon Himalayas.
