- Day 1 — Arrival and transfer to Jakarta
Arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. Clear immigration and baggage, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel in Jakarta. The Indonesian capital — a colonial old town, the national monument and the largest mosque in South East Asia. The rest of the day is free to settle in. Overnight in Jakarta.

- Day 2 — Jakarta: National Monument and Merdeka Square
Breakfast at the hotel. A full day in Jakarta — the National Monument and Merdeka Square; the Istiqlal Mosque and the Jakarta Cathedral facing it; and Kota Tua, the Dutch old town, and the Fatahillah museum. The evening is free for dinner and a walk on your own. Overnight in Jakarta.

- Day 3 — Jakarta to Yogyakarta
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Yogyakarta — a seventy-minute flight. The Javanese court city — a living sultanate, batik workshops, and the two greatest temples in South East Asia on its doorstep. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, the Borobudur Buddhist temple at sunrise. Overnight in Yogyakarta.

- Day 4 — Yogyakarta: Prambanan Hindu temple complex at sunset
Breakfast at the hotel. A full day in Yogyakarta — the Prambanan Hindu temple complex at sunset; the Kraton sultan palace and the Taman Sari water castle; and Malioboro Street, a batik workshop and a silver workshop at Kotagede. The evening is free for dinner and a walk on your own. Overnight in Yogyakarta.

- Day 5 — Yogyakarta to Mount Bromo
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Mount Bromo — the overnight train to Probolinggo, or a 330 km drive east. A smoking cone in a sea of volcanic sand, with a sunrise viewpoint that is worth the 3 a.m. jeep. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, the Penanjakan sunrise viewpoint by jeep. Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave for Kuta — a four-hour drive to Surabaya and a fifty-minute flight. The original Bali beach town, ten minutes from the airport — a long surf beach, a night-market of a main street and everything open late. Check in on arrival and, as the day allows, Kuta beach at sunset and a first surf lesson. Overnight in Kuta.

Breakfast at the hotel. A full day in Kuta — the Tanah Lot sea temple for the evening ceremony; Waterbom Bali and the Beachwalk shopping promenade; and the Uluwatu clifftop temple and the Kecak fire dance. The evening is free for dinner and a walk on your own. Overnight in Kuta.

Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Time for any last shopping before your transfer to Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar for the onward flight. The tour ends here, and we hope it is not your last visit to Indonesia.

- A separate accompanying guide; the driver is not a licensed guide.
- Indonesia visa on arrival, the Bali tourist levy and travel insurance.
- Optional tours and activities not named in the programme — diving courses, water sports, spa and cooking classes.
- Meals other than those stated, room service, alcoholic and bottled beverages, laundry and personal expenses.

- Nyepi, the Balinese day of silence, closes the island and the airport for 24 hours; nothing operates that day.
