Day by day

  1. Day 1 — Haridwar / Dehradun — Devprayag — Rudraprayag — Joshimath — Govindghat

Begin the Himalayan journey with an early pickup from Haridwar or Dehradun. Meet the driver and tour representative, load the luggage and proceed towards the upper Alaknanda Valley. Guests should carry identification, trekking footwear, rain protection and essential medicines in easily accessible bags. Travel through Rishikesh and continue into the Garhwal mountains. En route, pass Devprayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet to form the Ganga. A brief halt may be taken at a safe viewpoint according to traffic, weather and available time. Continue through Srinagar and Rudraprayag, following the Alaknanda Valley towards Karnaprayag, Nandprayag and Joshimath. Breakfast, lunch and comfort halts may be taken at suitable places. Lunch and refreshments are payable directly. Proceed from Joshimath to Govindghat, the principal road base for the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib trekking route. Arrive by evening and check in at Hotel Badrish, Hotel Divine Residency or a similar property. The evening is reserved for rest, acclimatisation and trek preparation. Repack only essential items into a daypack or trek bag because porter and mule services are payable separately. Meet the trek guide or coordinator, review weather conditions and confirm the following morning's departure time. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in Govindghat.

    Overnight: Govindghat

  2. Day 2 — Govindghat — Pulna by Road — Trek to Ghangaria

After an early breakfast, check out from the Govindghat hotel and carry only the baggage required for the three-night stay in Ghangaria. Larger or unnecessary luggage may be stored according to the hotel or operator's arrangement. Porter, mule or palki services are not included and must be arranged at direct cost. Drive approximately 3 kilometres to Pulna, the motorable starting point of the trek. After a briefing from the guide, begin the approximately 10-kilometre ascent towards Ghangaria. The trail follows the Laxman Ganga through forest sections, mountain villages, streams and scenic bridges. The path includes paved and uneven sections with continuous climbing. Walk at a steady pace, remain hydrated and take short rest breaks rather than rushing. During the monsoon, the trail may be wet, muddy or slippery, making sturdy waterproof trekking shoes essential. Tea stalls and basic refreshment points may operate along the route, but availability changes by season and weather. Meals or snacks purchased during the trek are payable directly. Guests using ponies should follow the operator's safety instructions and remain alert on narrow sections. Reach Ghangaria by afternoon or early evening and check in at Hotel Ghangaria Inn, a homestay or similar mountain accommodation. Facilities in Ghangaria are basic, with possible limitations in electricity, hot water, heating, mobile connectivity and room service. Rest, hydrate and attend the guide briefing for the Valley of Flowers trek. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in Ghangaria.

    Overnight: Ghangaria

  3. Day 3 — Ghangaria — Valley of Flowers Trek — Ghangaria

Wake up early for the principal nature experience of the journey. After breakfast, carry a small daypack with water, packed snacks if arranged, rain protection, a warm layer, personal medicines, camera and valid identification. Proceed with the trek guide towards the Valley of Flowers entry gate. Complete the required permit and entry formalities. The Valley of Flowers is a protected national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site; visitors must follow park timings, remain on permitted trails and carry all waste back to Ghangaria. The trek climbs gradually through forest, streams and waterfall sections before opening into the broad alpine valley. During the flowering season, the meadows may contain hundreds of plant species, including balsams, primulas, anemones and other Himalayan blooms. Brahma Kamal and Blue Poppy sightings depend on season, altitude and trail location and cannot be guaranteed. Walk carefully on wet stones, narrow paths and stream crossings. The guide determines how far the group can proceed inside the valley according to weather, park closing time, trail condition and participant fitness. Plucking flowers, leaving the trail, playing loud music or disturbing the ecosystem is prohibited. Spend time enjoying the waterfalls, misty slopes, floral meadows and mountain scenery. Packed lunch or snacks may be consumed only at an appropriate location while ensuring that no waste is left behind. Begin the return trek within the time directed by the guide, as overnight stay inside the national park is not permitted. Return to Ghangaria by afternoon or evening, rest and enjoy dinner at the lodge. Overnight stay in Ghangaria.

    Overnight: Ghangaria

  4. Day 4 — Ghangaria — Hemkund Sahib Trek — Ghangaria

Begin before sunrise or at the earliest recommended time for the demanding trek to Hemkund Sahib. After breakfast, carry warm layers, rain protection, water, energy snacks, personal medicines and identification. The trail gains significant altitude over approximately 6 kilometres and is considerably steeper than the Valley of Flowers route. Climb slowly through a series of paved sections and switchbacks. The increasing altitude may cause breathlessness, headache, nausea or fatigue. Take measured steps, avoid unnecessary competition and immediately inform the guide if symptoms become persistent or severe. Porter, pony and palki services may be available at direct cost, subject to local rates and availability. Even when using a pony, some walking may be necessary near the shrine or during crowded periods. Reach Hemkund Sahib at approximately 13,500 feet. The Gurudwara is situated beside a glacial lake and surrounded by high mountain peaks. Cover the head, remove footwear in designated areas and follow the Gurudwara's discipline and instructions. Spend time in prayer and, when available, receive langar. Visit the nearby Laxman Temple according to weather, crowd conditions and available time. The Hemkund Sahib season and daily access are controlled by snow conditions and local management, and the route may close temporarily during unsafe weather. Begin the descent early enough to reach Ghangaria before dark. Descending can strain the knees, so walk carefully on wet or steep sections. Return to the lodge, have dinner and spend the third overnight in Ghangaria.

    Overnight: Ghangaria

  5. Day 5 — Ghangaria — Pulna — Govindghat — Joshimath — Auli

After breakfast, check out from the Ghangaria accommodation and begin the approximately 10-kilometre descent towards Pulna. The downhill route follows the same Laxman Ganga trail used on Day 2. Walk carefully, particularly on wet stones and steep paved sections. Trekking poles may reduce pressure on the knees. Porter and mule services remain payable directly. Take short rest and refreshment stops according to the group's pace. Reach Pulna and transfer by local vehicle to Govindghat. Collect any luggage stored before the trek and rejoin the main tour vehicle. Continue through Joshimath towards Auli, approximately 25 kilometres away. Arrive in Auli and check in at Hotel Manik Resort or a similar property. Auli is known for its open mountain slopes, artificial lake and panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas. The evening is kept relaxed after four consecutive trekking days. Subject to daylight, weather and accessibility, take a short walk near the property or visit an accessible viewpoint. Ropeway and optional activities are excluded unless separately confirmed. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in Auli.

    Overnight: Auli

  6. Day 6 — Auli — Joshimath — Dhari Devi — Devprayag — Rishikesh / Haridwar Departure

After breakfast, check out from the Auli hotel and begin the long return journey towards Rishikesh or Haridwar. Descend through Joshimath and follow the Alaknanda Valley towards the lower Garhwal region. Subject to road conditions and available time, stop at Dhari Devi Temple for darshan. Temple access may require walking from the parking area and depends on local administration and crowd conditions. Continue through Srinagar and proceed towards Devprayag. Pause at an accessible viewpoint to witness the sacred confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, subject to daylight and traffic. Lunch, tea and comfort stops are payable directly. Travel time may increase because of monsoon rain, landslides, road work, pilgrimage traffic or temporary blockages. Reach Rishikesh or Haridwar by evening and receive the final drop at the confirmed railway station, hotel or city location. Guests should avoid booking a tightly timed onward train or flight on the same evening. The Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib journey concludes with memories of alpine meadows, sacred trails and the high Garhwal Himalayas.
