Day by day

  1. Day 1 — Dehradun — Rishikesh — Devprayag — Almora

    Begin the journey with an early-morning departure from Dehradun. Meet the driver and tour representative, load the luggage and proceed towards Rishikesh before entering the mountain route. The day involves a long inter-regional drive from Garhwal into Kumaon, so an early start is recommended. Continue through river valleys and mountain settlements, passing the Devprayag region and sections associated with the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river systems. The route gradually moves across forested ridges, terraced slopes and small hill towns. Breakfast, lunch and comfort halts may be taken en route at the travellers' own expense. As the journey enters the Kumaon region, enjoy views of pine-covered slopes and traditional villages. Reach Almora by late afternoon or evening, depending on traffic and road conditions. Check in at the selected hotel and take time to rest after the long drive. If daylight and energy levels permit, enjoy a relaxed walk through Almora's heritage bazaar area, observe traditional shops or spend the evening at leisure at the property. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Guests should keep warm clothing accessible because evening temperatures may be considerably cooler than Dehradun.

  2. Day 2 — Almora — Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

    After breakfast, check out from the Almora hotel and begin the short but scenic drive towards Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. Complete the required sanctuary entry formalities at the designated gate. Carry valid identity documents and keep camera equipment ready for inspection if required. Entering Binsar marks a noticeable transition into dense oak, deodar and rhododendron forests. The sanctuary road is narrow and quiet, with cooler temperatures and limited commercial activity. Drive slowly through forest sections where birdlife, langurs, barking deer and other wildlife may occasionally be observed. Sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteed. Arrive at the assigned forest lodge or boutique property inside or near the sanctuary and complete check-in. After settling into the room, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and forest atmosphere. The afternoon is intentionally relaxed after the previous day's long journey. Guests may take a short nature walk around the property or visit a nearby viewpoint when permitted. These walks should be undertaken only on safe, designated paths and preferably with local guidance. Avoid loud music, feeding animals or leaving the property after dark without authorisation. Subject to weather and visibility, enjoy sunset views over the valleys from a nearby viewpoint. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. The safari reporting time and morning programme for the next day should be reconfirmed before sleeping.

  3. Day 3 — Binsar Jeep Safari — Guided Zero Point Walk — Transfer to Kasar Devi

    Wake up early for the wildlife and forest-exploration programme. After tea or according to the lodge schedule, report for the authorised jeep safari inside Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. Carry warm layers, binoculars, water and a camera, but avoid strong perfumes and loud conversation. Travel through forest corridors known for rich birdlife and possible sightings of barking deer, langurs and other native species. Leopards inhabit the sanctuary, but sightings are rare and cannot be promised. The driver and forest guide determine the route according to permitted zones, weather, forest conditions and recent wildlife movement. After the jeep safari, proceed for the guided forest walk towards Zero Point, the highest designated viewpoint within the sanctuary. The trail passes through dense woodland and may contain uneven, damp or slippery sections. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and travellers should remain with the guide throughout the walk. At Zero Point, enjoy panoramic Himalayan views when the sky is clear. Peaks commonly visible from the region may include Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchachuli. Mountain visibility depends on clouds, haze and seasonal weather and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Return to the lodge for breakfast, freshen up and complete check-out. Later, drive towards Kasar Devi, a quiet ridge above Almora known for its spiritual atmosphere, mountain views and association with meditation and contemplative travel. Check in at the selected property in Kasar Devi. Spend the evening at leisure, enjoy the ridge-top ambience or take a short local walk according to daylight and weather. Dinner and overnight stay are arranged at Kasar Devi.

  4. Day 4 — Kasar Devi — Jageshwar Heritage Temple Complex — Kasar Devi

    After breakfast, depart from Kasar Devi for a heritage and spiritual excursion to Jageshwar. The scenic road passes through Kumaoni villages, terraced fields and dense deodar forest before reaching the ancient temple settlement. The Jageshwar Temple Complex comprises more than one hundred stone shrines generally associated with the period between the 9th and 13th centuries. Begin with the principal Jageshwar Mahadev Temple and spend time understanding the architecture, sculptural details and sacred setting. Continue to Mrityunjaya Temple and other important shrines within the central complex. Depending on time and access, visit Dandeshwar Temple, located a short distance away and known for its tall stone structure and forest surroundings. Time is provided for peaceful darshan, photography in permitted areas and walking through the deodar forest setting. An optional visit to the archaeological museum may be made according to its opening hours and applicable entry conditions. Temple or museum guides, special pooja and any additional entry charges are payable directly unless specifically confirmed. After completing the visit, return to Kasar Devi by evening. The remaining time is free for rest, a ridge walk or quiet reflection at the property. Dinner and the final overnight stay are arranged at Kasar Devi.

  5. Day 5 — Kasar Devi — Almora — Dehradun Departure

    After breakfast, check out from the Kasar Devi property and begin the return journey to Dehradun. Travel through Almora and the connecting Kumaon mountain routes, descending gradually from the ridge country towards the lower valleys. The drive is long and may be affected by traffic, road work, weather and seasonal movement. Comfort, tea and lunch halts will be taken according to the group's progress. Lunch and refreshments are payable directly. Continue towards Dehradun through the connecting hill and plains route. Arrival is expected by evening, but the exact time cannot be guaranteed. Guests should avoid booking tightly timed onward trains or flights on the same evening and should retain a reasonable travel buffer. On reaching Dehradun, receive the final drop at the agreed location. The Binsar Wildlife and Jageshwar Heritage Circuit concludes with forest memories, Himalayan views and the cultural heritage of Kumaon.
