Day by day
- Day 1 — Dehradun — Mussoorie Belt — Kempty — Nainbagh — Purola
Begin the journey with a morning pickup from Dehradun Airport, Railway Station, hotel or the agreed city location. Meet the driver, load the luggage and proceed uphill towards the Mussoorie belt. The road gradually leaves the Doon Valley and enters forested mountain terrain. Continue through the Kempty and Nainbagh region before moving towards the Jaunsar–Bawar belt. The landscape changes from busy hill-station roads to quieter pine forests, apple-growing areas, terraced fields and remote mountain settlements. Safe photography, tea and comfort stops may be taken according to traffic and available time. Lunch and refreshments are payable directly. Travellers should keep personal medicines, water and a light jacket accessible because temperatures may change as the vehicle gains altitude. Reach Purola by late afternoon or evening. Purola is a traditional hill town and an important gateway to the upper Tons Valley. Check in at the selected local lodge or homestay and take time to rest after the mountain journey. Subject to daylight and weather, take a short walk through the local market, observe everyday mountain life or relax at the property. Return for dinner and overnight stay in Purola. Guests should organise walking shoes, warm clothing and a small day bag for the following days.
Overnight: Purola
- Day 2 — Purola — Mori: Tons River Drive, Riverside Stay & Optional Rafting
After breakfast, check out or leave according to the property arrangement and begin the short drive towards Mori. Although the distance is limited, the road offers one of the scenic approaches to the Tons River, passing pine-covered slopes, village roads and dramatic views of the river below. Arrive in Mori by late morning or midday and check in at the selected riverside camp, homestay or lodge. Accommodation in this offbeat region may be simple and experience-oriented, with limited room service, mobile connectivity, heating or electricity compared with city hotels. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the river at a safe and authorised location. Guests may take a gentle riverside walk, photograph the valley, read, rest or enjoy the quiet mountain environment. Do not enter the water without local guidance because the Tons River can have strong currents and sudden depth changes. Seasonal rafting may be arranged through an authorised local operator at additional cost. Rafting depends on water level, weather, government permission, participant age, medical fitness and operator availability. Guests must wear the supplied safety equipment and follow the rafting guide's instructions. The activity may be cancelled without notice if river conditions are unsafe. Return to the property by evening. A bonfire may be organised when weather, fire-safety rules and the property policy permit. Enjoy dinner and the first overnight stay in Mori.
Overnight: Mori
- Day 3 — Mori — Netwar Village — Khanyasani Top Trek — Mori
After breakfast, carry a small day backpack with water, light snacks, rain protection, sun protection and personal medicines. Drive from Mori to Netwar, one of the culturally important settlements of the Jaunsari belt. Explore accessible sections of Netwar village, known for traditional wooden houses, local architecture and ancient religious sites. The exact temple or village route depends on local permission, opening conditions and the availability of a local guide. Dress respectfully and ask permission before photographing residents, homes or religious interiors. Continue towards the designated starting point for the Khanyasani Top trek. Begin the gradual ascent through forest sections and gentle mountain ridges. The trail is described as easy to moderate and is generally suitable for travellers with reasonable fitness, but conditions can become demanding during rain, snow or after landslides. Walk at a steady pace and remain with the guide or group. The trail may include uneven soil, roots, stones and slippery patches. Wear shoes with good grip and carry a trekking pole when extra support is needed. As the trail opens onto higher ridges, enjoy wide views across the Tons Valley and the surrounding mountains. Visibility depends on weather, cloud cover and haze and cannot be guaranteed. Spend time at the safe viewpoint for rest, photography and a packed snack if arranged. Begin the descent with care, especially on loose or wet sections. Return to the vehicle point and drive back to Mori by evening. Relax at the riverside property, have dinner and spend the second overnight in Mori.
Overnight: Mori
- Day 4 — Mori — Purola: Leisure, Village Walks & Recovery Day
After breakfast, check out from the Mori accommodation and begin the return drive towards Purola. The short transfer allows the day to remain flexible after the trek completed on Day 3. Travel through the Tons Valley road, forested slopes and rural settlements before arriving in Purola. Check in at the selected lodge or homestay and rest. The afternoon may be used for a gentle village walk, a short nature trail, market exploration, photography or quiet leisure at the property. The exact programme depends on weather, participant energy and locally available routes. Any specialist guide, extended hike or activity not included in the original itinerary may involve an additional charge. Guests may also use the day to interact respectfully with the hosts and learn about local food, agriculture or village life when the household is comfortable offering such an experience. Cultural interactions should remain voluntary and non-intrusive. Return to the accommodation before dark. Enjoy dinner and the second overnight stay in Purola, preparing for the long return journey to Dehradun.
Overnight: Purola
- Day 5 — Purola — Nainbagh — Kempty Region — Dehradun Departure
After breakfast, check out from the Purola property and begin the return journey towards Dehradun. Travel through the Jaunsar mountain roads, Nainbagh and the Kempty region, gradually descending towards the Doon Valley. Tea, lunch and comfort stops may be taken according to the group's progress. Lunch and refreshments are payable directly. The journey may be delayed by mountain traffic, road work, rain, landslides or tourist movement near the Mussoorie belt. Reach Dehradun by evening and receive the final drop at the airport, railway station, hotel or confirmed city location. Guests should maintain sufficient buffer before any onward train or flight rather than booking a tightly timed connection. The Tons Valley Adventure and Homestay tour concludes with memories of the Tons River, Jaunsari villages, forest trails, Khanyasani Top and the quiet landscapes of one of Uttarakhand's lesser-explored valleys.
