Day by day
- Day 1 — Dehradun — Rishikesh — Devprayag — Srinagar — Pauri
Begin the countryside journey with a morning pickup from Dehradun Airport, Railway Station, hotel or the agreed city location. Meet the driver, load the luggage and proceed towards Rishikesh. After crossing the Ganga corridor, the road gradually enters the Garhwal mountain region. Continue through river valleys towards Devprayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet to form the Ganga. A short halt may be taken at a safe viewpoint according to traffic, weather and available time. Proceed towards Srinagar through winding roads, forested slopes and hillside settlements. Breakfast, lunch and comfort halts may be taken en route. Lunch and refreshments are payable directly. The drive from Srinagar towards Pauri climbs through quieter mountain roads and offers changing valley views as the vehicle approaches the broad Pauri ridge. Arrive in Pauri by late afternoon or evening and check in at the selected hotel. Pauri is positioned on a wide ridge and can offer sweeping Himalayan views when the weather is clear. After resting, guests may take a short walk through the local bazaar or relax at the property while enjoying the valley atmosphere. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. The evening walk will be shortened or skipped in case of late arrival, rain or poor visibility.
Overnight: Pauri
- Day 2 — Pauri — Khirsu: Village Arrival, Forest Surroundings & Sunset Views
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning in Pauri before checking out. Subject to clear weather and available time, pause at an accessible ridge viewpoint to appreciate the surrounding valleys and distant snow ranges. Begin the short scenic drive towards Khirsu, situated at approximately 1,700 metres above sea level. Although the distance is limited, the road passes through quiet mountain settlements, terraced farms and dense sections of pine, oak and rhododendron forest. Arrive in Khirsu and check in at the assigned village-style stay, homestay or boutique mountain lodge. Accommodation is designed around the countryside experience and may be simpler than a city hotel. Heating, mobile connectivity, room service and other facilities can be limited depending on the property. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Guests may walk around nearby village lanes, observe traditional homes, visit accessible agricultural fields or interact respectfully with local residents. Village interactions depend on resident availability and should not disturb private homes or daily work. Later, take a gentle walk through the surrounding forest or proceed to a local viewpoint when weather and daylight permit. On clear evenings, the setting sun may illuminate distant Himalayan peaks. Sunset and mountain visibility cannot be guaranteed. Return to the stay before dark, enjoy dinner and spend the first overnight in Khirsu.
Overnight: Khirsu
- Day 3 — Khirsu Village Exploration, Forest Trails & Himalayan Viewpoints
Wake up to a quiet Himalayan morning and enjoy breakfast at the property. This day is intentionally kept slow and is dedicated to experiencing Khirsu on foot rather than covering multiple tourist attractions. Begin a guided or locally coordinated village walk through terraced farms, traditional homes and forest paths. The exact route depends on weather, trail condition, walking ability and local access. Walk at a comfortable pace and carry water, a light jacket, sun protection and personal medicines. Continue through sections of pine and oak forest, with rhododendron blooms visible during the appropriate season. The trail may include uneven, damp or slippery patches, especially during monsoon or after rainfall. Guests should wear footwear with good grip and remain with the guide or group. Stop at accessible viewpoints offering wide valley and Himalayan panoramas. On exceptionally clear days, ranges associated with Nanda Devi, Trishul and Kedarnath may be visible. These views depend entirely on cloud, haze, season and weather and therefore cannot be promised. During the village walk, observe traditional Garhwali architecture, agricultural practices and the slower rhythm of rural life. Photography of residents or private homes should only be done with permission. Avoid littering, loud music and disturbance to animals or crops. Return to the property for rest. The afternoon remains free for reading, journaling, photography, a short independent walk near the property or simply enjoying the clean air and silence. Optional local experiences may be arranged when available and may involve an additional cost. Enjoy dinner and the second overnight stay in Khirsu.
Overnight: Khirsu
- Day 4 — Khirsu — Satpuli — Nayar River Valley — Rishikesh
After breakfast, check out from the Khirsu property and begin the descent towards Satpuli. The road passes through terraced fields, forest patches, rural settlements and changing valley scenery, creating a gradual transition from the higher ridge country to the river valley. Arrive in Satpuli, a small Garhwal town situated near the Nayar River. Take a brief halt for refreshments, photography or a short riverside pause at a safe and accessible location. River access depends on water level, weather, road conditions and local safety instructions. Continue towards Rishikesh through the lower Garhwal route. Lunch and tea stops may be taken along the way at the travellers' own cost. Road travel may be delayed by local traffic, construction or weather. Reach Rishikesh by afternoon or evening and check in at the hotel. The remaining time is kept free for rest. When arrival is early and guests are comfortable, a short walk to a nearby market, riverside area or accessible ghat may be taken independently or with local assistance. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Rishikesh.
Overnight: Rishikesh
- Day 5 — Rishikesh — Dehradun Departure
After breakfast, check out from the Rishikesh hotel and begin the short return journey to Dehradun. The departure time will be coordinated according to the onward train, flight, hotel or city-drop requirement. Travel through the foothill corridor towards Dehradun. Traffic between Rishikesh and Dehradun may be heavy during weekends, festivals, pilgrimage dates and peak travel periods. Receive the final drop at Dehradun Airport, Railway Station, hotel or the confirmed city location by late morning or early afternoon. Guests should still maintain a reasonable buffer before onward travel. The Pauri and Khirsu Countryside Escape concludes with memories of Garhwal's forested ridges, village paths, terraced farms, mountain silence and Himalayan perspectives.
